Shopping – The High Street

The traditional heart of Porthampton’s shopping since 1840, Porthampton High Street has all the high street shops you would expect together with some fine new boutiques and independent retailers.  The famous Salter and Son gentlemen’s outfitters, Est. 1961, can be found  just around the corner from The Square.  You will also find some new modern clothes shops if you are a trendy young thing!  If you want coffee, cake or something more substantial to fuel your shopping trip there are plenty of new and exciting places to eat and drink.

Marina

Porthampton has an excellent marina with top class facilities, boardwalk, bars and shops earning a 5 gold anchor award from the Yacht Harbour Association.

Museum

Our city museum tells our story from the city’s origins as a prehistoric fishing village, through it’s times as a Roman and Medieval centre for commerce, up to the modern day international port we have become. The museum also has dedicated gallery space, hosting a wide variety of local, national and international works.

In true Porthampton style there is a wide range of the best food from around the world. Fantastic Italian and Indian restaurants, Greek tavernas, Parisian bistros… the hardest part will be deciding where to go!
